Is it me or have you been feeling a disconnect with the AC series lately? I feel like these past three years now we haven’t had a riveting story as Edward Kenway’s. Do you think ubsioft will bide its time to tell a story that will better incorporate modern day as well as the past?

Personally, I don’t feel disconnected to the series. I think I’m so confused to the point that I’ve read through the official encyclopedia and Assassin’s Creed Wikia and watched some people playthroughs so many times just to make sure I haven’t missed anything, seeing if my “theories” make sense, or just fact-checking (the last one everyone should be doing these days, regardless of the subject).

In that sense, I think many people saying Edward’s story was one of the most compelling probably has to do with the fact that it’s the “least Assassin’s Creed” game out of the series–at least 80% of the game is him being a pirate, and doesn’t “become” an Assassin until Mary dies (which is still debatable since he doesn’t become a Master Assassin until he was pardoned from piracy). Also, his story is pretty much the only one with a closure without having to heavily rely on other AC-related media (like those abominable novels).

And to answer your second question, if they aren’t taking the extra +1 year working on the modern day portion of the story (especially when it seems like they sent out a survey regarding it not too long ago), might as well have Juno “save [us] all”, if you catch my drift.

allsoundsasscreed:

Violet: This is a priority message to all Sigma Team operatives, Assassins have stolen an artifact from our Rotterdam storage facility. Rally point is at 51.887107 by 4.559017. Be there by oh-six-hundred local time. Stragglers will be put to death, so move it!

Listen up, losers. There are two confirmed Assassins operating in the city. Target number 1 is Harlan Cunningham, the only survivor of a cell in Florence that our fearless leader eradicated a couple of years back. He stole the Precursor Box and is on the run.

Target number 2 has been identified as Arend Schut, former MMA champion and now Cunningham’s disciple… and lover. How romantic! He’s running interference, murdering our Templar agents embedded in Abstergo facilities throughout the city.

Berg: Sorkin, take Sigma Team and go after Schut. I will take down Cunningham myself, and recover the artifact.

Violet: I don’t like the idea of you going alone, boss.

Berg: I want to deal with him personally. Sigma Team, maintain contact with Violet at all times. You have your orders!

Violet: Sorkin you dipshit, don’t engage him hand-to-hand! Pull your men back!

[Sounds of a typical session in Call of Duty]

Schut: Come get some!

Sorkin: He’s got my gun!

[More CoD noises]

Violet: Sniper One, do you have a shot?

Sniper One: Negative, he’s using Sorkin as a shield.

[You get the idea]

Sorkin: He’s tearing us apart! Take the shot!

[He took the shot]

Sorkin: AAAAAAAAAARRGGGGGHHH!

Sniper One: I hit Sorkin!

[Sounds like the operation is “booming”]

Sniper One: He dropped a smoke bomb! I’ve lost visual!

Sorkin: He’s… gah… he’s gone!

Violet: That’s our cue. Pick your sorry asses up and get to the extraction point! Double time!

[Meanwhile…]

Cunningham: Just… just fucking kill me already!

Berg: I had a dream about you.

Cunningham: That’s sweet, but I’m with someone.

Berg: In my dream, you never made it out of Florence alive.

Cunningham: What can I say? I’m too stubborn to die.

[Some Michael Bay effects]

Schut: Hello, lover!

Berg: Perkele!

Cunningham: We can’t leave the box behind!

Schut: Fuck that. I killed half of Sigma Team. Let’s quit while we’re ahead.

[Pew, pew, pew]

Cunningham: See you in your dreams, Berg!

Violet: What a shit show.

Berg: Compile the relevant parts of our audio logs and send them to Laetitia England. Tell her this is exactly why she should be letting us hunt Assassins.

Gérald: Aveline, the documents you found aboard the rat captain’s ship… I recognized a name — Rafael Joaquín de Ferrer — a known enemy. I don’t know what his business is here, but we can be assured it’s more than er… simple larceny.

Aveline: How can I help?

Gérald: One of Agaté’s “Servant” contacts tells us that he will attend a uh… social soirée at the governor’s mansion this evening.

Aveline: I’ll have my best dress ready. Or my worst! Fear not, Gérald. I’ll uncover his true purpose.

Gérald: In the meantime, may I suggest that you er… familiarize yourself with the governor’s mansion? Perhaps discover a… uh… discreet way to enter?

Aveline: Don’t worry Gérald, I will prepare well.

Gérald: One more thing. There is a small er… house for sale near the governor’s mansion. It would be ideal for a Dressing Chamber. If you wouldn’t mind er… buying it?

Happy Valentine’s Day!
