Maybe. You can always take apart your PS3 and clean out any dust you find and try turning it on again.

can i play ps3 games in my ps4 or just to upgrade? (can i upgrade tomb raider?)

Unless you have PlayStation Now, you can’t play PS3 games on a PS4. However, SOME games does allow you to upgrade to the PS4 version for free or at a discounted price. I don’t know if Tomb Raider is one of them.

actually i will buy my new ps3 in wallmart or best buy. a ps3 in my country is like 1000 bucks! in usa is so cheaper. the only problem is that i’m afraid of another ylod :(

I doubt a brand new PS3 will YLOD right after pulling it out of the box. Again, any console will break with poor care.

Anonymous #1 – I have a friend in Brazil who complains about that and there was recently an article about Nintendo discontinuing their distribution in Brazil.

Anyway, I’d say a YLOD is unavoidable after +5 years (mine is reaching that point and I’ve been backing it up like crazy). You can do the thermal paste replacement if it does get a YLOD, but it’s not guaranteed it’ll last another +5 years or if it really is the old thermal paste that’s causing the problem.

Anonymous #2 – Yes, PS Now is game streaming. I haven’t try it myself, but from what I read it’s a monthly subscription where you can rent and play PS3 games on your PS4. Downsides are that not all PS3 games are available for streaming and you can only rent, not buy.

Also, PS4 is not and will never be backwards compatible – i.e. you can’t insert a PS3 game disc in a PS4 and have it work – unfortunately. That’s pretty much the reason why people are saying don’t sell your old consoles for a next-gen.

i will go to usa next month and i’m thinking in buy another ps3 but i’m afraid another ylod again. should i be worry?

If you buy a used one, maybe. Though keep in mind that consoles in general will break from very heavy use and poor care.

Not sure if their warranties are any different from a standard one, but I suggest buying a PS3 in your country in case something does happen to it less than a year after purchase.
