Edward’s Killing Montage: a GIF-database of all killing animations in AC Ⅳ: Black Flag, including 1 Tag Index, 6 Chapters, 18 Kinds, 103 Types, almost 300 Styles and 600 GIFs.

  • Do you know there are 7 types and 25 styles of special animations when you execute counter dual kills against 2 shooters in AC4: Black Flag?

  • Do you know you can use 3 kinds of main weapons, 3 kinds of secondary ones and totally 22 styles of animations in passive dual counter kills?

Here I present you Edward’s Killing Montage: a database of all killing animations in Assassin’s Creed Ⅳ: Black Flag, which is an archive made up with almost 600 GIF files in my Tumblr. All the GIF pictures are made by my own and I try my best to ensure that all the GIFs are as big as Tumblr allows. There are no water prints, no HUD, no extra corpses, no unnecessary bystanders and the processes of the animations are as complete as possible.

I divide this database into 6 chapters, 18 kinds, 103 types and almost 300 styles.

The list of 18 kinds is as following:

  • 1. Dual Counter Kills 6 types;
  • 2. Active Dual Kills with Secondary Weapon 6 types;
  • 3. High Profile Dual Assassinations 2 types;
  • 4. High Profile Single Assassination 6 types;
  • 5. Running Assassinations 8 types;
  • 6. Low Profile Dual Assassinations 1 type;
  • 7. Low Profile Single Assassination 2 types;
  • 8. Single Counter Kill 8 types;
  • 9. Single Counter Kill by Disarmament 3 types;
  • 10. Assassinations by jumping from High Ground 5 types;
  • 11. Finishing off after Paralyzing 6 types;
  • 12. Single Kill after Breaking Defense 6 types;
  • 13. Straight Normal Kill 7 types;
  • 14. Stealth Assassination 9 types;
  • 15. Additional Situations 12 types;
  • 16. Finishing off after Throwing away 8 types;
  • 17. Dual Counter Kills against 2 Shooters 6 types;
  • 18. Killing after Wall Run 2 types.

Thanks to the tags system of Tumblr, I marked each GIF as detailed as possible and set up a tag index to make the searching easier and more efficient. There are 3 catalogs in the tag index: Types of Killing, Types of Weapons and Hidden Spots.

For example, in the mode “Active Dual Kills with Double Swords and Pistols as Secondary Weapon”, those tags: Active Dual Kills with Secondary Weapon (Types of Killing), Active Dual Kills with Double Swords and Pistols as Secondary Weapon (Types of Killing), Double Swords (Types of Weapons), Pistols (Types of Weapons) are all available. In the mode “Dual Assassinations with Hidden Blades by jumping from High Ground”, you can search the tags: Assassinations by jumping from High Ground (Types of Killing), Dual Assassinations with Hidden Blades by jumping from High Ground (Types of Killing), Hidden Blades (Types of Weapons) and High Ground (Hidden Spots).

I can’t granite that I have collected 100% of the animations in Assassin’s Creed Ⅳ: Black Flag, but I have the confidence that I have done at least 98%. And I assume except the database in Ubisoft, my archive is the only one in the internet. 

It took me almost 3 months to set this database up. I’m a huge fan of Assassin’s Creed, especially “Assassin’s Creed Ⅳ: Black Flag”. And Edward Kenway is my favorite game character so far.
